Prerequisites
- You must have the system_administrator, safety_manager, or platform_admin role to manage users.
- You need to be in the Safety module to access team management settings.
Available roles
PlaneConnection defines roles aligned with 14 CFR Part 5 organizational requirements:| Role | Description | Access level |

The Safety Manager role is the only role that can access confidential reporter identities (per 14 CFR 5.21(a)(4)). Even system administrators and platform administrators cannot view encrypted reporter identities.
Steps
In the Safety module, navigate to Settings in the sidebar. Then click Members in the settings menu. This page shows all current workspace members and pending invitations.
The invitee will receive an email with a link to join your workspace. Invitations expire after a set period.
Before inviting, check that your workspace has not reached its user limit. User limits vary by subscription tier and are shown on the Subscription settings page.
The Members page shows pending invitations in a separate section. For each pending invitation you can:
Changing a role takes effect immediately. The user’s navigation menu and available features will update on their next page load. Be careful when downgrading roles, as the user will lose access to resources they could previously view.
Removed members immediately lose access to the workspace. Their historical activity records (reports submitted, investigations conducted, etc.) are preserved for audit purposes.

- Everything pilots can do, plus:
- Manage all reports, investigations, and CPAs
- Access confidential reporter identities
- Configure risk assessment thresholds
- Manage compliance tracking
- Export data and reports
- Approve document versions
What system administrators can do
- Full system configuration access
- Manage users and invitations
- Configure tenant settings
- Export all data types
- Cannot access confidential reporter identities
