By the end of this tutorial, you will have a PlaneConnection workspace set up and ready to use — all from a QR code scan at a trade show.
Who should do this tutorial? Attendees at aviation trade shows (NBAA-BACE, Sun ‘n Fun, NBAA
SDC) who received a PlaneConnection QR code or link. If you are setting up PlaneConnection
outside of an event, see the standard Quickstart instead.
Getting started
Step 1: Scan the QR code or open the link
The QR code takes you to a page like:
app.planeconnection.com/start?archetype=flight_ops&event=NBAA_BACE
You should see a start page with your event and role pre-configured in the URL.
Step 2: Enter your name and email
The start page shows two fields: Your Name and Email. Fill them in and click Get Started Free.
You should see a confirmation that your account has been created. A magic link is sent to your email for future sign-ins — no password needed.
Step 3: Set up your workspace
You are redirected to the setup page. Fill in:
Organization Name — your company or flight department name.
Role — what best describes you. If you scanned a role-specific QR code, this is already selected.
Operator Size — small, medium, or large operator classification.
Click Create Workspace to proceed. You should see a loading screen as your workspace is created.
Step 4: Complete onboarding
After workspace creation, you enter the
AI-guided onboarding experience. ALI walks you through configuring your SMS program, identifying your safety team, and setting up safety performance indicators.
You now have a working PlaneConnection workspace.
To sign back in later, use the magic link sent to your email. You can set a password from Settings > Security if you prefer.
