General Disclaimer
PlaneConnection is an aviation management and compliance tool. It does not replace the judgment of qualified aviation professionals, regulatory compliance officers, designated pilot examiners, aviation maintenance technicians, or legal counsel. All safety, operational, and maintenance decisions remain the sole responsibility of the certificate holder, operator, or individual making those decisions. The platform is designed to support and streamline compliance workflows — not to serve as the final authority on any regulatory, safety, or operational matter.Regulatory Guidance Disclaimer
This documentation references federal aviation regulations including 14 CFR Parts 5, 43, 91, 119, and 135, as well as ICAO standards (Annex 19, Doc 9859) and FAA Advisory Circulars (AC 120-92D). These references are provided for informational and educational purposes only.- Regulatory citations reflect our understanding as of the documentation’s last-modified date and may not reflect subsequent amendments, interpretations, or exemptions.
- This documentation does not constitute legal advice, regulatory guidance, or an official interpretation of any federal regulation.
- Always consult the eCFR, your Principal Operations Inspector (POI), or qualified aviation legal counsel for authoritative regulatory guidance.
- For the FAA Part 5 SMS compliance deadline and implementation guidance, refer to the FAA SMS webpage and AC 120-92D directly.
AI and Automated Features Disclaimer
PlaneConnection includes AI-powered features such as the ALI safety assistant, natural language report submission, anomaly detection, SmartScore safety scoring, and AI-generated recommendations. These features are advisory only.- Per FAA 14 CFR Part 5, all safety assessments, investigation findings, risk evaluations, and corrective action decisions require independent human evaluation by qualified personnel.
- AI recommendations should be used as one factor among many in operational and safety decision-making, not as the sole basis for any action.
- AI models may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or contextually inappropriate outputs. Always verify AI-generated content against primary sources and professional judgment.
- PlaneConnection implements a human-in-the-loop architecture (see ADR-004) — no AI recommendation is executed without explicit human approval.
SmartScore Disclaimer
SmartScore is an informational safety assessment tool. It is not an insurance underwriting determination, actuarial product, credit score, or regulatory compliance certification.- SmartScore ratings are derived from operational metrics and should be interpreted in the context of your operation’s specific circumstances.
- A high SmartScore does not guarantee safety, regulatory compliance, or favorable insurance terms. A low SmartScore does not indicate regulatory noncompliance or unsafe operations.
- SmartScore never includes individual safety reports, investigation details, corrective action specifics, individual pilot names, FOQA/FDM raw data, anonymous reporter identities, or any data submitted under ASAP, FOQA, or SMS voluntary reporting programs.
- Voluntary safety reporting activity is never penalized in SmartScore calculations. Reporting more hazards does not lower your score.
Maintenance Records Disclaimer
PlaneConnection’s maintenance module provides tools for tracking work orders, due items, component histories, and regulatory compliance documentation. The record integrity features (cryptographic hash chains, Merkle trees, RFC 3161 timestamps) are designed to support tamper-evident record keeping.- Record integrity tools do not guarantee legal defensibility. They provide evidence of record consistency, not proof of regulatory compliance.
- The operator is solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all maintenance records entered into the platform.
- Maintenance records in PlaneConnection do not replace the requirement for physical logbook entries, 8610-2 forms, or other records where hard-copy originals are required by regulation (14 CFR 43.9, 43.11, 91.417).
- Always ensure that authorized maintenance personnel (per 14 CFR 43.3 and 43.7) perform and sign off maintenance actions through your operation’s approved procedures, regardless of what is recorded in the platform.
Data Accuracy and Operator Responsibility
PlaneConnection processes and displays data that your organization enters, imports, or generates through platform use. The platform does not independently verify the accuracy of user-entered data.- You are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and currency of all data in your workspace, including but not limited to: safety reports, aircraft records, crew qualifications, flight data, maintenance entries, and financial records.
- Decisions made based on platform data — including safety assessments, dispatch decisions, crew assignments, and maintenance actions — are your organization’s responsibility.
- PlaneConnection provides data validation tools (format checks, range validation, duplicate detection) as aids, not guarantees of accuracy.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PlaneConnection LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform or reliance on this documentation, including but not limited to:- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill
- Business interruption or operational delays
- Regulatory enforcement actions, penalties, or fines
- Insurance claim denials or premium adjustments
- Personal injury or property damage
Safety Reporting Protection
PlaneConnection is designed to support a non-punitive safety reporting culture consistent with FAA 14 CFR Part 5 and ICAO Annex 19. The platform’s confidential and anonymous reporting modes, identity encryption, and data firewall architecture are designed to protect reporters. However:- Platform features do not create legal privilege or statutory immunity beyond what is provided by applicable law (e.g., 49 U.S.C. Section 44735 safe harbor, ASAP MOU protections).
- Operators should consult legal counsel regarding the specific protections available under their ASAP, FOQA, and LOSA programs.
- The platform’s anonymous reporting mode strips identifying data but cannot prevent identification through report content itself. Reporters should avoid including uniquely identifying details in anonymous submissions.
Third-Party Integrations
PlaneConnection integrates with third-party services including but not limited to: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), QuickBooks (accounting), ForeFlight (flight planning), and various aviation data providers. These integrations are provided “as is.”- PlaneConnection is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or security of third-party services.
- Data shared with third-party services is governed by each provider’s terms of service and privacy policy.
- Integration failures do not relieve operators of their regulatory obligations.
Documentation Currency
This documentation is updated regularly but may not reflect the most current state of the platform at any given time. Features described in this documentation may be in development, available only on certain subscription tiers, or subject to change.- Where documentation conflicts with actual platform behavior, the platform behavior governs.
- For the most current feature availability, check your workspace’s active modules and subscription tier.
